We Are A Highly Recognized Facility

Wee Wisdom Nursery School and Child Care Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. (NAEYC). For more than 25 years, families have relied on NAEYC Accreditation to ensure the quality of education and care provided in programs for young children.  Early childhood programs accredited by the NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Program accreditation voluntarily undergo a comprehensive process of internal self-study and improvement. Each NAEYC-Accredited Program must meet all 10 of the NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards. NAEYC is the mark of quality for accredited programs.

In addition to achieving the highest national rating available through NAEYC, Wee Wisdom has also achieved the highest rating granted in the state of Indiana by voluntarily participating in “Paths to Quality” and receiving a Level 4.  Paths to Quality is a free and voluntary quality rating system for child care that was originally developed and implemented by Early Childhood Alliance in 6 counties in northeast Indiana and now serves as the pilot for the statewide implementation of a child care quality rating system. Paths to Quality provides information to parents on how to find and choose quality child care in licensed centers, family childcare homes, or unlicensed registered ministries. Paths to Quality is a system where each level builds on the foundation of the previous one, resulting in significant quality improvements at each state and resulting in national accreditation at the highest level…Level 4.

Pre-School

Wee Wisdom is one of only a few licensed facilities in Indiana that offers a separate pre-school program in a separate portion of the building. The pre-school has a specialized teaching staff for each age group. All of the teachers are State-Licensed and hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Development, or both. Some staff members also hold Kindergarten Endorsements. Give your child the education he or she deserves! Ensure that your child enters Kindergarten as a leader!

Our Luxurious, In-ground, Heated Swimming Pool

Wee Wisdom is the only licensed Child Care facility in Delaware County to have their very own in-ground, heated, swimming pool. During the summer months, each child swims in the pool daily, under the direct supervision of two-licensed lifeguards. Daily swimming is at no additional cost to our families, but parents may opt to pay a minimal fee for swimming lessons. Swim Lessons are available to any students, ages 2 through 12, who are currently attending or have attended either our Nursery School and/or Child Care Center. Swimming is a refreshing form of gross-motor activity experienced each day during the summer months of June and July. Give your child the opportunity to enjoy daily swimming at Wee Wisdom!

Unique Outdoor Play

Our facility provides over two acres of fenced play areas. Contained within these areas are: state of the art playground equipment, a paved riding court for all riding toys (furnished by Wee Wisdom), a full size basketball court; kickball, football, soccer, and volleyball areas; a covered pavilion, and many other open areas used daily for exercising and running. Our outdoor play areas are designed to combine an education atmosphere with many varied modalities of outdoor play. Give your child the freedom to run and play in wide open spaces at Wee Wisdom!

Documented Anecdotal Records

Each childcare group has a specifically appointed “Lead Care Giver. This caregiver provides daily documentation of your child’s selected activities, combined with a synopsis of social and emotional behaviors observed daily.

Our Private Chef

Wee Wisdom places much emphasis on providing nutritious meals and snacks that cater to the tastes of children. Our onsite chef assures that all meals and snacks are within healthy, caloric, and fat-content limits. Not only are the meals nutritious, but they are beautiful in presentation. Rather than providing pre-cooked or pre-packaged meals, we make most of our meals homemade (the old-fashioned way). Make certain that your child develops healthy eating habits at a young age! Start now – at Wee Wisdom!

Our Staff

Our staff is highly educated and dedicated to the implementation of all goals and objectives for each child. Safety is our number one priority. Safety begins with selective hiring of faculty and staff. Each employee must meet specific qualifications according to Wee Wisdom pre-requisites listed in this Parent Handbook. In addition to these pre-requisites, every person who comes into contact with your child throughout the day is certified in CPR and First Aid. All employees must have negative results on routine drug screening. We also complete Criminal History Checks and Central Registry Checks on each employee. Educational Requirements will vary according to the position to which a staff member is assigned. Continuing education is an on-going process at Wee Wisdom. Our employees are frequently evaluated. Our staff is very consistent and our turn-over rate is minimal. When you enroll your child at Wee Wisdom, we take full responsibility for the care and development of your child. We assure you that only highly qualified, nurturing, and loving individuals will be caring for your child!

Our Unique Design

The children in our facility are not assigned to one specific room. Each child will learn and play in as many as seven rooms per day. We are organized like a home. We have a dining room, a napping area, center areas, multi-purpose rooms, pre-academic rooms, art rooms, and over 2 acres of outdoor play areas. Our building square footage would allow for twice as many students as we hold on a given day. By keeping our licensing capacity much lower than required, we are able to provide more space per child inside and outside. We believe that by keeping our numbers below capacity, we are able to provide for children to move from room to room and to experience different learning atmospheres. Do not put your child in an atmosphere where he or she learns, eats, plays, and sleeps in an “assigned room“. Allow your child to come to Wee Wisdom and experience the freedom of moving from room-to-room!

Our Emphasis on Physical Activity

At Wee Wisdom, children experience a variety of gross-motor activities, including daily exercise. Our director strongly values physical fitness for all children regardless of age or body type. Allow our staff to help your child develop a love for exercise and physical activity here at Wee Wisdom! These habits will last a lifetime!

Safety is Our Number One Priority

In January 2013, Wee Wisdom installed a “key-less” entry system. All staff, parents, and anyone listed on each child’s “Authorization of Pick-Up List”, must have an authorized/activated “key fob” to enter the building. In addition, we installed an intercom system and video camera at each level of entry for our building. No one is permitted inside the building without a key fob. In essence, we are on a 24/7 lockdown. We do not permit any “walk-ins” for persons wanting to tour our facility. Tours are given by “appointment only”. Before a tour begins, the individuals coming for the tour must show a picture ID to the video camera and only those persons listed in our appointment calendar will be permitted to enter once ID has been verified. Once a parent decides to enroll, individual Key Fobs will be issued to each parents and all individuals listed on the Authorization of Pick Up List. Parents must make a $10.00 deposit for each Key Fob issued, which will be refunded/credited back to their account once the child withdraws from Wee Wisdom. Key Fobs are only issued to individuals ages 18 and over.

Key Fobs may not be shared among authorized users.  Please do not ask us to make exceptions, as requests to do so will be respectfully declined. One parent from each family will be required to complete an intake agreement covering our Security System Policy. This agreement will be a part of your child’s main file, and must be completed prior to the beginning of your child’s first day of attendance. It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that all authorized Key Fob recipients understand and abide by the policies listed in this agreement. Our security system is strict for a reason…The safety of your child depends upon it!

Once an authorized adult has entered the building through the use of his/her key fob, it is likely that the adult may need to show picture ID before a child is released to his/her care. Therefore, it is important that each parent inform all authorized Key Fob recipients to bring their drivers license into the building when they arrive to pick up a child. Once our staff recognizes Authorized Key Fob recipients, the frequency of needing to show picture ID will decrease. However, if new staff are added, the new staff person will need to acquaint themselves with all adults who are authorized to pick up. This is a process that takes time. So, please… always enter the building with your picture ID.   These rules are written to protect your child. Below is a summary of what to expect if you are an authorized Key Fob recipient.

  1. Inform each person on your child’s “authorized pick up list” of the components listed in our security system agreement.
  2. Keep your child’s “authorization of pick up list” updated. Changes (additions/deletions) must take place in the main office through our office manager. Each parent is responsible for making sure the list is current.
  3. Authorized individuals may enter the building through upper or lower levels by the use of their Key Fobs.
  4. Authorized individuals are required to enter with Picture ID on their person.
  5. Children will be released only to individuals who are listed on each child’s current “Authorization of Pick Up List” AND possess a picture ID that matches the name on the list.

All of these components must be present in order for your child to be released from our building.  The safety of your child is our number one concern every minute of every day!
