Parents are the first and most continuous teachers of young children. At Wee Wisdom, you and your child’s caregiver will have many opportunities to form a partnership, which will lay the foundation for the best possible education of your child.  The following activities will promote parental involvement and will produce positive results for teachers, parents, and most importantly… your child:

Parent Visitors:  At Wee Wisdom, we practice an open door policy. You may observe in our Nursery School for 8 hours per month.

Newsletters: Daily Newsletters serve as an excellent source of information to parents. Wee Wisdom’s newsletters outline news about classroom happenings, student projects, and helpful hints for parents. You will receive a newsletter each day that your child attends a nursery school class.

Parent Volunteers: You may assist in our Nursery School for a total of 8 hours or more per month. In order to volunteer, you must submit a current physical, a current TB Test, and a Criminal History Check through the Indiana State Police. These must be provided at your expense. If you are interested, please contact the office for more information. Parents are an invaluable source in the classroom.

Meet The Teacher Day:  This special day is typically scheduled for the Wednesday prior to the first day of school.  Parents and students may drop by the Nursery School to meet the classroom teachers and drop of supplies for the school year.  (See School Supply List)

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Each Fall, our licensed teachers conduct an extensive individual assessment on the development and skill levels of each child enrolled in our Nursery School Program. Because our primary focus centers upon preparing each child for a successful transition into kindergarten, our Fall Assessment pinpoints exactly where we need to focus our attention with your child. Upon completion of the assessment, an individual parent-teacher conference is held to review the child’s progress and establish goals for the remaining portion of the year. Parents are provided with written copies of all assessments and a copy of the progress report. In the Spring of each year, our licensed teachers conduct another extensive individual assessment on each child designed to measure the child’s growth in all areas of our curriculum. Again, parents meet one-on-one with their child’s teacher to review the assessments and the progress report. At this time, the teacher and the parents will decide on goals for the upcoming year; including eligibility for Mrs. Allen’s Summer Reading Program.

Telephone Calls: Teachers will communicate regularly with parents. Please feel free to call your child’s teacher at any time during our hours of operation. You may also reach our director if needed.

Social Events for Children & Their Parents: The following activities are scheduled annually for Nursery School Children and their families:

  • Halloween Parties: Parent committees plan and organize refreshments, favors, and paper products for this Fall party. They are given a specific list of guidelines for doing so. The party will take place during regular class time and will last forty (40) minutes.
