Parents take turns furnishing snack for Nursery School. A monthly snack schedule will be posted in the Parent Portal around the 3rd week of the month for the upcoming month.  Parents are asked to furnish a “healthy snack” by following the guidelines listed below.   Wee Wisdom furnishes the beverage. A fruit juice containing 100% Vitamin C (and no sugar) is served with all morning snacks in the Nursery School.  (Friday Toddler Class, T/TH 8:30 and 10:30 Classes, MWF 8:30 Class, and Pre-K 8:00 Class)  Afternoon Classes (MWF 12:30 and Pre-K 12:00) will be served 1% Milk. If you do not wish to furnish a snack on your assigned date, please add $10.00 to your upcoming monthly tuition check or weekly child care check, and we will be happy to furnish it for you.  All snacks must be store-purchased and sent in their original packaging. Additional information about Wee Wisdom’s Snacks & Meals:

  • Each child is served everything listed and is “encouraged” to try everything on his/her plate.
  • Meal time is pleasant and relaxed. The children are never rushed. We strive to create a home atmosphere.
  • Children all allowed unlimited amounts of fruit juice and milk, seconds on snack items, and second serving on a minimum of two meal items daily.
  • Wee Wisdom prepares only fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • All fruit juices are 100% Vitamin C and contain absolutely no sugar.
  • We purchase only high quality meats and strive to monitor the fat intake for all children.
  • During any given week, we will serve the following main course protein sources:
  • A minimum of 4 servings of chicken, turkey, fish, or pork
  • A maximum of 1 serving of beef
  • We want your child to love our food.
  • We put much love into the planning and preparation of your child’s meals.
  • Please call our chef by 10:00 a.m. on any given day to make a reservation to join your child for lunch.

We provide two (2) meals: breakfast (to all students who arrive prior to 8:00 a.m.) and lunch for students attend our child care center during the noon hour.

We also serve a nutritious morning and afternoon snack. Menus are distributed weekly to child care parents. Weekly menus are placed into each child’s wall cubbie each Friday. Unless substantiated by a physician’s written order and due to special diet restrictions, children are not permitted to bring food into the center from home or other sources.

The following foods are not served at Wee Wisdom due to the potential risk of a choking hazard:

  • Whole Grapes
  • Hot Dogs (round)
  • Hard or Round Candy
  • Hard or Round food items of any sort
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Raw Peas
  • Dried Fruit
  • Marshmallows (prohibited only for children under three)
  • Spoonfuls of Peanut Butter
  • Chunks of meat larger than ½ inch square
  • Raw Carrots and/or Baby Carrots
  • Popcorn or popcorn puffs
  • Taffy
  • Chips
  • Popcorn of any kind
  • Pretzels of any kind
  • Chex Mix

Special Diets

  • If your child requires a special diet due to medical, personal, or religious beliefs, we will post your child’s information for our dietary staff in charge of preparing and serving the food.
  • Wee Wisdom will serve substitutions, based on any written orders signed and dated annually by your child’s physician.
  • For children requiring a special diet due to medical reasons or allergic reactions, Wee Wisdom will provide meals and snacks in accordance with your child’s needs and the written instructions of the child’s physician.
  • A child requiring a special diet due to religious beliefs or personal beliefs must supply the school office with a written statement from the parent.
  • For special diets, Wee Wisdom reserves the right to request the parent to supplement food served by our center.
  • If the parent provides the food from home, we must have the parent sign a “Safe Transportation of Food Responsibility” form, which is available in our school office. All food items must be protected from damage and potential contamination.
  • Wee Wisdom will not omit foods or ingredients from foods typically served to children without food allergies from our weekly menus due to parental requests from parents of children with specific food allergies. (Examples: Peanut Butter, Peanut Products, Dairy Products, Fruit Juices, etc.)

Food Allergies:

  • Children with food allergies must provide Wee Wisdom with a physician’s written statement indicating that the conditions listed above under “special diets” will sufficiently met the needs of that particular child and that under these provisions, the health condition is not so severe as to be potentially hazardous to the child at risk.
  • If your child has a food allergy, the form to be used for physician consent regarding your child’s enrollment in our center is included in the last section of this handbook. It is considered a vital part of your child’s enrollment papers.
