2016 Space Day is May 7th!

October 27, 2017

National Space Day is observed annually on the first Friday in May.  This day is dedicated to the extraordinary achievements, benefits and opportunities in the exploration and uses of space.  The goal of National Space Day is to promote Math, Science, Technology, and Engineering Education in young people to inspire them to pursue a career in Science, especially a career in space-related jobs.   The learning platform Alleyoop is collaborating with NASA and other institutions to get kids to consider STEM careers.  How do you get young people excited about space?  How do you get them interested not just in watching movies about space, or in playing video games set in space…but in space itself?  And, how do you inspire them to love MATH and SCIENCE?  How do you get them to consider pursuing careers in ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY?  Did you know that the gamified learning platform ALLEYOOP is offering the answer to these questions?  It’s announcing a collaboration with NASA,  as well as NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION, and  SCIENTIFIC MINDS.  It is also hosting other outlets that produce content focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math — the STEM literacies.    With these new teaching tools, there is no limit to what we can do to encourage and grow student interest in the areas of STEM.  If we can spark a passion for these areas in our students, the world of possibilities will literally “open” to limitless options.  Check it out!!
