Snack
Parents take turns furnishing snack for Nursery School. A monthly snack schedule is sent home around the 3rd week of the month, for the upcoming month. It will be attached to the daily newsletter. Each parent is asked to furnish a “bread product”. Wee Wisdom furnishes the beverage. A fruit juice containing 100% Vitamin C (no sugar added) is served with all morning snacks in the Nursery School. For Classes in the afternoon, 2% Milk is served. All snacks must be store-purchased and sent in their original packaging. Please note the following list of acceptable and non-acceptable snack items:
Acceptable Snack Items:
- Pretzels (with or without dip)
- Graham Crackers (with or without topping)
- Teddy Grahams
- Little Fish Cheese Crackers
- Animal Crackers
- Variety Crackers
- Bread Sticks (with or without dip)
- Sandwiches (please send ingredients, we will assemble)
- Muffins
- Bagels with topping
- Plain yeast donuts
- Plain cake donuts
- Granola Bars
- Brownies
- Rice Krispie Treats
- Pop-tarts
- Pizza (You may have it delivered- hot and ready to serve)
- Popcorn (Prohibited for the Toddler Class)
- Carmel Corn (Prohibited for the Toddler Class)
- Other items may be acceptable. Please check with your child’s teacher.
Note: Please remember that the snack must be a “bread product”. If you want to send a fruit or vegetable to accompany the bread product, you may do so, providing you exclude non-acceptable and prohibited snack items that are listed below.
Non-Acceptable Snack Items:
- Cookies
- Potato Chips
- Nacho Chips
- Corn Chips
Prohibited Food Items (due to potential choking risk):
- Whole Grapes
- Hot Dogs (round)
- Hard or Round Candy
- Hard or Round food items of any sort
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Raw Peas
- Dried Fruit
- Pretzel Nuggets
- Marshmallows (prohibited only for children under three years of age)
- Spoonfuls of Peanut Butter
- Chunks of meat larger than a child can swallow whole
- Baby Carrots
- Popcorn (prohibited for children under three years of age)
- Carmel Corn or Cheese Popcorn (prohibited for children under three years of age)
- Taffy
