Staff Requirements
Wee Wisdom is staffed with highly educated, enthusiastic caregivers and teachers. Our selection process is based upon educational transcripts, past experiences with children, teaching experience, exemplary references, and much more. Wee Wisdom prides itself in providing a consistency of staff. At Wee Wisdom, we experience a very low turnover rate. Please see the qualifications listed below positions held at Wee Wisdom.
Wee Wisdom’s Requirements for all Nursery School Teachers
- Minimum of Bachelors or Masters Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or both.
- Indiana State Teacher’s License (Current)
- Certification in Community CPR (Infant, Child, Adult; Renewed Annually)
- Certification in Community First Aid (Infant, Child, Adult; Renewed Consistently)
- Current TB Test w/Negative Findings (Renewed Annually)
- Criminal History Check with State Police (Record must be clear)
- Central Registry Check with Delaware County Division of Family and Children
(Must Be Clear of Any Charges Relating To The Welfare Of Children)
- Pre-Employment Drug Screen (Must Have Negative Findings)
- Pre-Employment Physical Examination (Must Be Cleared By Physician)
- Exemplary Grades On College Transcripts
- Exemplary Student Teaching Evaluation
- A Minimum of Three (3) Outstanding References From Past Employers or Teachers
- Completion of Pre-Employment In-service With Owner/Director
- Certification In Universal Precautions and Preventing Disease Transmission
- Twelve (12) Hours of Continuing Education Annually
- A Minimum of One (1) Written Evaluation Annually (On file at Wee Wisdom)
- Exemplary Teaching Performance
- Must demonstrate an ongoing passion for teaching.
- Must demonstrate patience, love, Christian-based guidance
- Must serve as a positive role model within our school and community
Wee Wisdom’s Requirements for all Nursery School "Assistant Teachers"
- Minimum of a High School Degree; College Preferred
- Practical and/or professional experience in working with children
- Certification in Community CPR (Infant, Child, Adult; Renewed Annually)
- Certification in Community First Aid (Infant, Child, Adult; Renewed as needed)
- Certification in Universal Precautions and Preventing Disease Transmission; Renewed Annually
- Current TB Test (With Negative Findings - given annually)
- Negative Results On Pre-Employment Drug Screen
- Clear Criminal History Check
- Clear Central Registry Check (through the Del. Co. Division of Family & Children)
- Practical and/or Professional Experience in working with Children
- 12-18 hours of continuing education annually
- Minimum of three (3) exemplary references from previous employers or teachers
- Pre-employment Physical Examination
- Exemplary grades on High School and/or College Transcripts
- Completion of in-service training with Wee Wisdom’s Director (10-15 hours)
- Must demonstrate an ongoing passion for teaching.
- Must demonstrate patience, love, Christian-based guidance
- Must serve as a positive role model within our school and community
Wee Wisdom’s Requirements for all Child Care Employees
Each Child Care Group will have one Lead Caregiver. This person is responsible for planning comprehensive, age-appropriate activities for all students in his/her group, and implementing the activities planned. The "lead" caregiver is the person who spends the most time with the group throughout the week. Additional caregivers may be used at various times (lunch breaks, preparation times, etc.). However, the "lead caregiver" is the person responsible for the planning of all activities and behavior management of the group.
Each Lead Caregiver must have one of the following:
- A current CDA (Child Development Associate Credential; issued by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition)
- An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education
Lead Caregivers who do not meet the above requirements must:
- Have 8 additional in-service training hours per year (total of 20), appropriate to the age group with whom the caregiver is working
- Enroll in one of the educational programs listed above within one year of becoming "lead caregiver"
- Provide Wee Wisdom with documentation showing successful completion of at least 6 credit hours per year once enrolled in a program
All Caregivers - Lead and Assistant:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma
- Must have good reading and writing skills
- Must have practical and/or professional experience in working with children
- Must have annual certification in CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, and Preventing Disease Transmission
- Pre-employment Physical Examination
- Negative Results on Pre-Employment Drug Screen and continued negative results on random testing
- Annual TB Testing (negative results)
- Clear Criminal History Check
- Clear Central Registry Check (through the Del. Co. Division of Family & Children)
- 12-20 hours of Annual In-service (continuing education)
- Minimum of three Exemplary References from past employers or teachers
- Must complete 10-15 hours of pre-employment in-service with Director or Assistant-Director
- Must demonstrate an ongoing passion for teaching.
- Must demonstrate patience, love, Christian-based guidance
- Must serve as a positive role model within our school and community
